Basic Primitive Living Skills Program

Regardless of race, nationality or status, all of humankind began at one time or another in a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. The Basic Primitive Living Skills program is an immersion program for the student to begin the reawakening of their ancient past. Using stone, wood, fire and other natural elements, the student will have the opportunity to expand their hands on experience in the wilderness with our most abundant resource; nature. Through the subjects taught during the program, students will be able to experience the truly ancient history of our Canadian past.    

Subjects may include but are not limited to; Hunter-gatherer mindset and awareness, basic tool making, primitive fire-lighting, traditional use of plants for food and tools, and many unique uses of our natural Canadian landscape.

Course cost: $165.00 (CAD)

 
Basic Hunter-Gatherer Program

Our ancestors lived, not off of the land, but with the land, using their native resources to provide sustenance from both flora and fauna. The Basic Hunter-Gatherer workshop is a seasonal three day program covering the most simple of food gathering techniques. As well, the instructors of Canadian Bushcraft will teach the student how to the construct the tools necessary to harvest food as our ancestors did for thousands of years.

Subjects may include but are not limited to; Primitive tracking and awareness, stone age traps and trapping methods, basketry, wild edible identification, simple hunting and foraging tools and, of course, respect for the food.

Course cost: $165.00 (CAD)

 
Advanced Hunter-Gatherer Program

The skills of our primitive ancestors were quite advanced and their food gathering tools were often marvels of invention. Their technology and techniques of harvesting a vast variety of food resources is a true feat of adaptation and awareness. The three day Advanced Hunter-Gatherer workshop takes the lessons learned in the Basic Hunter-Gatherer workshop and expands them for the student. Unique and incredible methods of seasonal food gathering and preparation will be learned. 

Subjects may include but are not limited to; archery and projectile hunting, primitive fishing techniques, uses of the animal, stalking and movement techniques, and advanced tracking.

Course Cost: $165.00 (CAD)

 
Basic Bushcraft Skills Program

For beginners and those who wish to get an overall experience of the concept of Bushcraft. Using simple equipment, and their natural surroundings, the student will begin to learn how to live within the wilds.  Comfortably. Techniques such as Fire, water gathering and purifying, basic shelter construction, primitive fishing and trapping, gathering of wild edibles, and basic tool making will be covered during this three day course. We really do want to show you how amazing and enjoyable Bushcraft can be. We invite you to experience the basics of Bushcraft skills in an Base style camp in Eastern Ontario.  Let Canadian Bushcraft staff walk you through the experience that you will carry with you for the rest of your life! 

Topics can include: Clothing Sleep Fire Water Survival knife, the Swede saw and the axe Shelters Health matters Kits Cordage, and knots Basic wild plants uses. *Primitive, traditional, and modern techniques will be used during program*

Advanced Bushcraft Skills Program

Where the Basic Skills course leaves off, the Advanced Skills course picks up. Advancing the shelters, water gathering and fire-making techniques, the students begin to expand their simple skills into instinctive, comfortable actions. New tools are taught, such as those made from bone, stone and woven materials. As well, philosophical concepts of nature awareness and tracking will be demonstrated and explained to the students; awareness is the key to the wilds. The premise of the Advanced Skills Program is; to perfect and hone the “toolkit” and knowledge of the fledging Bushcrafter.

Lasting three days, students of the Advanced Skills Program will be able to try their hands at making; Super Shelters, Northern Climate Wickiups, Bow Drill Friction Fires, Flintknapped tools (arrowheads, hand blades, etc), Gypsy Wells Baskets (coiled, woven and folded bark), Hunting and gathering tools (rabbit sticks, fish traps, digging sticks, etc).

Information you need:
 
Deposit, Cancellation, and Refund Policy Minimize

Registration must be received a MINIMUM of 14 days in advance the course date in order for course to fulfill minimum enrollement. If minimum enrollment is secured and course is still open, last minute registration will be accepted.

A deposit of 50% the course fee must be received with your registration form.  If form is sent electronically, deposit must be received, by mail, within one week of registration.  A space will be reserved for you only after deposit has been received. 

PLEASE NOTE: Deposit is non-refundable unless course is cancelled by Canadian Bushcraft.

If a cancellation request is received by Canadian Bushcraft more than 30 days in advance of the course, the fee, less deposit, will be refunded.

If the cancellation request is received by Canadian Bushcraft within 30 days of the course, the full fee is non-refundable.

If the minimum enrollment has not been met by the registration deadline, those signed up have the following options:
     (1) The program can be run with less students, but with an increase in fees.
     (2) The full deposit and fee may be transferred to a future course. 

Otherwise, the course will be cancelled by Canadian Bushcraft. 

Canadian Bushcraft reserves the right to refuse a student's participation in any course should safety become a factor.
